Description

Inspired by the shapes of the world around her, Jean Shom fills her paintings with vibrant colors and expressive brushwork.


Shom has completed art studies at Colorado Women's College, Adams State College at Taos (graduate level), and Taos Institute of Arts as well as numerous workshops and classes with such nationally known artists as Kim English, Ann Templeton, Barbara Zaring, Tim Diebler, and Steven Quiller.


She has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards, honors, and reviews including being chosen as Limited Edition Print Artist for Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting, Mural Artist for Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, and Poster Artist for Project Angel Heart's Art for Life.  Her sketchbook done during the 2011 and 2012 Denver Plein Air Arts Festival was purchased by the Denver Public Library for their permanent Denver History Department.


Shom is a member of the Denver Art Museum, Foothills Art Center, Art Students League of Denver, and the Park Hill Art Club.


Her work may be found in Denver at Arts At Denver Gallery and in private collections throughout the United States and internationally.  Corporate collectors include Delta Dental, Macy's, Children's Hospital in Aurora, Co., MWH International Engineering, The Denver Public Library, and The Catholic Foundation.
