Description
Sharon Rouse is a Visual Arts Specialist and adult watercolor workshop presenter. She develops her paintings with images and notes from her travel sketchbooks and journals. Through her watercolors, she strives to portray the past, its influences on today’s culture, and our relationship to and with nature. As she works with watercolors, she is often reminded they, like nature and the past, are diverse, spontaneous, and often unpredictable. Her work has been accepted into various shows and is in private collections. She is also an active Denver Art Museum docent.
“Hanging It Out to Dry” (Venice)
Laundry communicates with the wearer and the viewer. To the wearer, the memory of a special event can be woven and sewn in the fabric and seams. To the viewer standing on the street below and looking up, each piece could trigger a memory or bring up one from the past. The viewer can only imagine the owner who resides behind the window. It is a silent communication between all.
