Description

Debbie has been working with the medium of encaustic since 2007. Says Debbie: “I do both encaustic paintings on panels and encaustic monotype prints. I continue to explore new methods and techniques with this amazing medium. I will be leaving my studio space at the Dry Ice Factory in the RiNo Art District in Denver this summer as well as my shared gallery space at Helikon. But I will continue doing my encaustic paintings.”

Encaustic (beeswax and pigment) is an ancient medium known for performance and resistance to damage from moisture, air, and insects. To care for you art, simply dust with a feather duster or clean with a lint-free cloth. Occasional light polishing with a clean, soft untextured cloth will bring out depth and shine. Encaustic paintings should be protected from extreme heat and freezing. Do not hang in direct sunlight. If framed – the surface should never touch the glass.

Debbie Brady’s 2016 mask which is entitled – “The Visit” – is a combination of encaustic painting and collage. Its inspiration arose after a trip to Cuba in the spring just after President Obama’s visit. We heard story after story of how friendly and kind he was to all he came in contact with. My experience there saw a country of survival and people with incredible spirit and pride.
