Description

Imo Lax spent 23 years as an Air Force weather forecaster. Her work is subliminally influenced by the satellite images and cloud formations that she studied. These images are not in the forefront of her mind when she is creating her work, however the weather features and continents seen from space manage to “surface”. Her work is predominately three-dimensional. She enjoys seeing the textures and colors interact, and playing with the shadows that are created by the depth of the textures.

I have always loved the sea. Living near Puget Sound, I found time to immerse myself in nature – losing myself in the life cycle of tidal pools. There is no end to the “tidal world” it will come back, changed, but it will come back. I can still hear the waves and smell the sea, holding onto that I believe I have captured the essence of the miniature universes that the tidal pools contain.
