Description
Throughout her life, Bette has appreciated the creativity of the artist, but she did not discover her own creativity until she became aware of her passion for clay. She made this discovery 30 years ago when taking a ceramics class at Denver’s Emily Griffith Opportunity School where, suddenly, art became a very personal, hands-on experience. Clay is both a physical and emotional process for Bette. She loves the discovery of what is fashioned from her own hands whether it is made on the wheel or hand built. Bette’s pieces combine form and function with an occasional touch of whimsy. With childhood memories, family traditions, and the natural world as her chief inspirations, Bette has come to love creating everything from teapots to garden art to pieces that celebrate her love of cats. Bette’s work evokes thoughts of family time spent drinking tea together; enjoying plants, flowers and vegetable gardens; and taking pleasure in all things feline.
