Stephen Huxley is a self-taught artist who has always loved to draw. He honed his art skills by filling his notebooks with doodles while earning an engineering degree from Cornell University and attending law school at the University of Wisconsin. He then enjoyed a stint as a medical illustrator for McGraw-Hill, and created custom ketubahs (Jewish marriage contracts) while also running an online vintage toy business. Stephen now works in the legal field, indulging his creative side through playing the guitar, photography, and drawing. His preferred medium is colored pencil because he can layer, blend, and manipulate color to look like watercolors or oils, but still maintain the preciseness an engineer can appreciate.

The hamsa is an ancient Middle-Eastern symbol that is worn or hung in the home to bring health, happiness, and prosperity to its owners, and to protect them from the envious or evil eye. The word hamsa translates to "five," referring to the fingers on a hand. This original hamsa design is drawn in ink and colored pencil, and depicts the balance of all life on earth and the temptation that can so easily destroy that balance.
