A native of Denver, Desirée Saunar is a full time Graphic Designer currently residing near beautiful Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. Starting as a self-taught fine artist, she later received formal education from the Art Institute of Colorado studying Graphic Design. Her design work has been created in large and small scale, both nationally and locally. When she’s not creating digitally, her favorite medium is working with acrylics on canvas as well as other mediums to express her creativity.  

Her whimsical mask, “King of Me" was created with acrylic paint and polished with a UV resistant gloss. Inspired by the summer season and the concept of blooming from the inside out, she created her mask using bright colors paired with a bold illustrated style. The meaning behind the title "King of Me," is simply being the ruler of oneself. It encourages a strong belief in self-love, strength, and confidence by carrying oneself as the highest form of royalty. Ruling your mind and your actions creates a better kingdom as we journey through life. This is her third contribution for the Mask Project.
