Description

Nancy Flanders Lockspeiser, award-winning artist/designer, is a native of Boston and long-time resident of Denver, Colorado. Her love of movement and the exhilaration of athleticism are explored in paintings and prints included in corporate and private collections throughout the United States. Her purpose – “to celebrate our adventurous aspirations and life’s vitality, its diversity, its humor, its magnificence.” Work has been commissioned for Dr. Henry Kissinger, Mrs. Barbara Davis, and many others, with exhibitions throughout the U.S., China, and Africa. A graduate of Cornell University, she has continued her postgraduate studies at Radcliffe Institute, University of Colorado, and the British Institute in Florence, Italy.

“Ride – Dream – Catch the Ring” shows a carousel horse, part of the original 56-foot long mural design by the artist for “Sandi’s Playroom” in the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Four nine-foot high horses within a circular sky top carousel celebrate the foundation’s goal to “catch the brass ring” promise for a world without diabetes. The mask is embellished with gold leaf, glass, and painted with oils.
