A long-time resident of Lafayette, CO, Rachel is a multi-media collage artist and sometimes jewelry artist in her backyard studio.  She sells her work in several local galleries and has taught arts classes and workshops in various media.  Rachel Hanson has been active in arts development and programming in Lafayette since 2008.  She is a founding member and president of ARTS! Lafayette. Her mission is to help nurture the growth of the Lafayette arts and culture scene as part of a greater picture which will cultivate a vibrant, energetic, and creative community in her hometown.

The multi-media collage on the mask includes pattern paper and a dictionary page, “peace;” as well as three painted aspen trees to represent the strength and beauty of the life cycle. The word COMFORT is meant to offer itself in time of need.
