Description

About the Artist:

Linda Scariano

Linda Scariano has lived in New Orleans her entire life. Her ancestors came here from Southern France and one worked as a chef at Antoine's in the early 1900s. Linda's cousins started and ran the Ye Olde College Inn until they sold it to its current owner. In addition to enjoying working with their hands as chefs and craftsmen, her relatives were talented watercolorists too. Her mother and uncle sold their paintings down in Jackson Square. Linda prefers to work with porcelain, rather than painting.

Linda created these 3 gorgeous porcelain eggs using a slip cast process. She then lifts the designs from the surface, paints the glazing onto the bisqued fired pieces and refires them. She learned the lifting technique 30 years ago from a well-known decorative porcelain N.O. artist named Rose Lee. She enjoys creating this works of art and giving them as gifts and is happy to donate them to the Tipitina's Foundation.
