Artist Statement: Every time I paint a landscape or seascape, I try to translate the essence of the elements so that the painting holds the time and place and evokes a sense of being there. Expressing an atmospheric sense of place on a two-dimensional surface feels magical when the painting comes to life. Referred to by one art critic as "traditional art with a contemporary flair," my paintings are inspired by an enduring love of nature.
Artist Biography: Marblehead resident Susan K. Burgess has painted coastal New England and travel locations on site (en plein air) for almost fifty years, combining a keen eye with her love of nature and exploration. With a degree in Studio Art and graduate certificates in Management and Graphic Arts, she has worked in museum administration and taught art, both to children in public schools and to senior citizens in an enrichment program she directed in Cambridge. She continues to take numerous workshops with local and international artists and is a juried Artist Member of both the Marblehead Arts Association and Cambridge Art Association.

Special Instructions
Pick-up of purchased cods will be on Tuesday evening, July 5. Winning bidder will receive a notification email with information on pick-up time and location.
If winning bidder requires shipping, winner's credit card will be charged a separate $24.95 fee to cover USPS ground and handling. Shipping is available within the U.S. only and must be requested within 7 days after receipt of the notification email.
Any cod purchased via "Buy Now" will remain on display at the hosting business through the end of the auction, and will be available for pick-up as detailed in the winning bidder notification email.
If winning bidder has not picked up cod (or provided shipping address) within 30 days after the close of the auction, cod will become the property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
