Spring Migration Birding for 6 at the Tip of Leelanau Peninsula

Item Number: 508
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
This silent auction item will be presented for final bidding at our annual picnic on Thursday, August 4th.
Join experienced birders Linda and Ed Ketterer to explore a wonder that unfolds each spring in Leelanau—the spring bird migration. We will meet to bird on several different properties, including the Lighthouse West Natural Area and Leelanau State Park. We’ll look for warblers and other migrants, as well as nesting regulars, like the Scarlet Tanager. This event will be scheduled to catch the peak of migration and to fit your schedule in mid-May, 2017. Starts at 8AM. Includes a gift card to Sisson's in Leland. Use it to pick up coffee and pastries for pre-hike sustinance and/or lunch following. Up to 6 participants welcome.
Hear what Rick and Trish Bryan, who won the 2013 tour, said about the birding tour:
"We are 'sorta birders' — not experienced at all and the Ketterers made us feel very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our bird walk through the Lighthouse West Area and getting to know Ed and Linda. While we could hear and see the birds flitting about, having the Ketterers identify the species was a real educational experience. In fact, I heard a white throated sparrow today while working in the yard and could identify his song, thanks to the Ketterers. The lunch—and coffee—was wonderful too! We extend our deepest thanks for the Ketterer’s gracious hospitality efforts on behalf of the Leelanau Conservancy.”
