Julie Carbin is a designer, artist and educator. Her greeting card line illustrates the places we inhabit whose spirit of place enhances our own spirits. She draws from observation while taking the occasional liberty with artistic interpretation. Her drawing technique is evolving towards a base in the careful lines of her architectural craft, overlaid with freehand and a partially rendered infusion of color. It is her hope to engage the viewer to complete the renderings in their mind’s eye. Julie has the pleasure of being a former member of the AVC choir. Between hymns in the choir loft she gazed at the lovely sanctuary windows as a prelude to drawing them.

Julie has taught at Endicott College and Massachusetts College of Art + Design. She finds a sense of purpose encouraging students to communicate through the visual language of drawing. She approaches design projects by honoring the vernacular and devising variations on it for renovation/additions and new construction. She earned a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art + Design and a Master of Architecture from MIT.
