An original watercolor painting by Henry Gasser (American, 1909-81)
Gasser was a painter, lecturer, teacher, illustrator and author, and native of New Jersey, where he lived for his entire life. A master at watercolor and oil, his work consisted of everyday subjects that demonstrated a sense of place and feeling that most could identify with.
This charming Paris street scene, 15.5"Hx13.5"W framed, is a fine example of Gasser's expertise.
Well-known and well-regarded in traditional art circles during his lifetime, Mr. Gasser was awarded over 100 national exhibition prizes, including the prestigious Hallgarten Prize from the National Academy of Design. He was the author of an influential guide to painting, and is represented in over 40 museum and college collections as well as important private ones. He was also the subject of a documentary film.
