Hand crafted earrings from Afghanistan

Item Number: 348
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Farzana learned her jewelry craft in Italy.
She can cut and polish stones, and provides her customers on Kabul's Chicken Street with the contemporary styles that are popular with the younger generation of Afghans. But her signature style uses rough semi-precious stones. She is inspired by the peridot, which mined in and around her native Kapisa Province in Afghanistan.
"Farzana's peridot and lapis lazuli earrings are one of the Afghan products I am importing to the U.S. I am building a web-based business that I hope will allow me to work from my home in Annisquam Heights while maintaining my dog’s lavish lifestyle. My work in international development has taken me to areas of the world not yet frequented by tourists. I offer a peek into the cultures, cuisines and aesthetics of my favorite corners of the world." - Robin Johnson
