Description
This item features a pair of authentic African tribal masks from the Dan Tribe. The Gio, or Dan people, are an ethnic group of approximately 350,000 members in northeastern Liberia and Côte d'Ivoire. Dan arts are notable for wood sculpture, including a huge variety of masks, each with unique forms and purposes. The masks are the most important art form of the Dan people, crafted with mostly oval faces and made from cowrie shells, fabric, raffia, burlap, bells and hand carved wood. This pair of masks would be a wonderful addition to any world traveler's art collection.
