CAMP SUSAN CURTIS Two-Week Campership ($1,200) for a disadvantaged Maine youth:  your gift provides a disadvantaged Maine child with a 2-week residential skill development session including follow-up reinforcement activities throughout the year:  98.9% of our long-term participants complete high school and 81.9% go on to college or other post-secondary training (compared with 77.8% and 48%, respectively of students statewide).

Our program participants (ages 8 - 17) are referred to us by our network of educators and guidance counselors in Maine public schools in all 16 Maine counties.  We serve 500 economically disadvantaged Maine youth each year.  All participants are fully sponsored through fundraising.

The mission of the Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation and Camp Susan Curtis is to ensure that economically disadvantaged Maine youth develop the individual character, self-confidence, and skills essential to becoming independent, contributing citizens.

We accomplish this by:

  • Building trusting relationships with Maine youth and their families through the provision of tuition-free, high quality, camping, educational and social experiences that bolster education attainment, promote health and well-being, and support the development of life and workplace skills.

  • Maximizing collaborative relationships with organizations and individuals to help the youth we serve secure the tools and connections they need to complete their education, prepare for careers and contribute to Maine’s economic future.
