Gerda van Leeuwen received her Arts Education in Painting and Printmaking at Academy Artibus in Utrecht, The Neterhlands.  She received a work/travel grant from Arts Group, Kunstliefde to study the work by artist Piranesi in Italy.  A grant from the Dutch Cultural Counsel made it possible to buy an etching press.  She set up a fully equipped printing facility and collaborated wtih other artists in making print portfolios and art books.


Until 1985 she taught Art at high schools and maximum security prisons in Utrecht, Holland.  She had various solo exhibitions during that time period.


In 1985 she moved to NYC and se up a printing studio, Hudson Street Press, with Peter Yamaoka in Tribeca.


1985-2001 Participated in varioius exhibitions showing prints published by Hudson Street Press.


2006 moved painting studio and printing facilities to Roxbury, NY where she now works and teachers art.


Gerda van Leeuwen's work is on permanent display at the Longyear Gallery, Margaretville, NY as well as in private and corporate collections in the US, Mexico, The Netherlands, China and Japan.
