Description

The high bidder wins a pass for 10 classes at Boxing for Health in Oakland, a gym and community created and run by professional boxer, Miguel Lopez.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Miguel grew up in a neighborhood where young people frequently faced dangerous, risky situations. Boxing gave him a "way out," keeping him focused and out of trouble. Miguel started his boxing training in 2000 at Harrison Street Boxing Gym, with the well-known Sonny Marson as his coach. It was there that he learned the discipline, dedication, and determination that led him to win the San Francisco Golden Gloves that same year. Boxing gave Miguel the opportunity to train his body and mind on new levels, and he began his professional boxing career in 2009. With a passion for helping people and giving back to the community, it was Miguel’s dream to open a gym of his own, and that dream became reality when the doors to Boxing for Health opened in 2010.

As a personal trainer and boot camp instructor, Miguel's goal is to push people to new levels. "The most fulfilling part of his job," he says, "is to put a smile on people’s faces and help them get on the path to being healthy." Sign up for classes and you'll be "Boxing for Health."

Ready to try basic punches and footwork techniques, defensive drills, combination and counter punching drills, the art of shadow boxing, punching bags, jumping rope, dynamic stretching and medicine ball, a wide variety of calisthenics, pilates, yoga, plyometrics and intense abdominal workoutsmb, or dumbbell exercises?  There are multiple experienced trainers and classes available, Monday through Saturday, to the winner of this item.
