Description

Hummingbirds have the highest metabolism of any homeothermic animal. To conserve energy when food is scarce, and nightly when not foraging, they go into torpor, a state similar to hibernation, slowing metabolic rate to 1/15th of its normal rate.

You can help feed them with this beautiful glass Hummingbird Feeder!

Hang your feeder or mount it on a pole near flowers that attract hummingbirds, such as bee balm, fuchsia, hibiscus, hollyhocks, red impatiens, red or pink petunias, trumpet vines, sage, lantana, or zinnias. Once established, you can move the feeder to a better viewing location.

Recipe for Hummingbird Nectar:

  2. Remove from heat

  3. Add 1 cup of granulated sugar and stir until dissolved

  4. Let cool and fill feeder (any unused portion of the mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for 7 - 10 days.
