Grace Cathedral Catwalk Tour for Four

Item Number: 492
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Want to do something in San Francisco that is not open to the general public? Curious about the history of Grace Cathedral and want to explore its hidden areas? Want to be next to the 44 bells in the tower when they sound on the hour? Want to impress your friends with your bravery? Want to see where the snow came from during Lessons & Carols? Then this once-in-a-lifetime, rarely offered experience is for you!
Four intrepid guests (upper schoolers and their parents only, please) are invited to join Head Verger Charles Shipley on an exclusive tour of the Cathedral catwalks. This tour is not offered to the public and is an exclusive offering to our auction. You'll not only explore the catwalks within the Cathedral but also walk around the outside perimeter of Grace Cathedral with a heart-stopping view of San Francisco.
You may remember the scene in the novel More Tales of the City (Armistead Maupin, 1980), later adapted for television, when the recognition of the "sacred rose" window leads to the discovery of a cannibal cult in the cathedral catwalks, high above the vaulting. You'll see that area and more.
Tour is for four people and lasts about an hour in real time and a lifetime in your memory.
Special Instructions
Open to the Cathedral School community only, please. This tour is only for adults and upper school- aged children and is not suitable for anyone afraid of heights. Participants must sign a waiver before tour commences. One adult must attend per child (thus, two adults and two children, or more adults). Gift Certificate expires March 4, 2018.
