California Landscape, 27 x 40" - Handcut adhesive vinyl on panel

t.w.five is a collaborative artist duo, one raised in Sweden and the other in Brazii. t.w.five is based in San Francisco. They work with just one material - adhesive backend vinyl - and focus largely on process. All shapes are hand-cut into strips from large rolls of solid color vinyl, and then carefully applied to a surface of the work. They usually create on a massive scale and integrate the gallery space with their art. 

They have exhibited individually and as a team in the Bay Area and abroad at such venues as the Luggage Store Gallery, Luna Rienne Gallery, Galeria de la Raza, and Right Window Gallery (all San Francisco based); and Babel Gallery (Tronheim, Norway). The duo has completed several public art commissions in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, and has been awarded residencies at the Headlands Center for the Arts (Sausalito), Ladermoen Kunstnerverksteder (Tronheim, Norway), and Sula Fur (Sula, Norway).

Whatever Paula Pereira and Pernilla Andersson are doing, it combines elements of Pop Art predecessors from Lichtenstein and Rosenquist to Peter Saul and Victor Vasarely, and emerges out the other end with the sinuous beauty of Jean-Léon Gérôme.
