Founding their business in 1842, the Niepoorts have been making wine for five generations in northern Portugal’s Douro valley. With a long established reputation as a respected Port producer, Niepoort began producing world- class table wines in the 1980’s with the acquisition of choice vineyards in the Douro region. Winemaker Dirk van der Niepoort is the head of the fifth generation of innovative winemaking at Niepoort, and embodies the dedication and passion for wine that his family has maintained for centuries.
