Description

This is a box of 48 bluegill flies tied by Bob Haase and presented in a lovely wooden fly box.

  • 12 Mop Flies in a size 10. This is a sinking fly and it is weighted to get down to the big gills. This is a different variation of the mop fly and has an emu feather collar that adds motion to the fly. This is a new fly that has become popular for catching big gills.

  • 12 All Season Scuds. This fly is weighted to be used for fishing panfish through the ice. It can even be used below a bobber in the summer in place of using a worm or with a fly rod or spinning float. These have been popular for ice fishing and are hard to get because very few people tie this fly.  ou don’t need to put any bait on it.

  • 12 foam modifications of a saltwater bass fly designed by Jack Gartside that have been downsized for bluegill. I had a friend catch 72 bluegills in 72 casts in 62 minutes on this fly. It often out-fishes poppers.

  • 12 Panfish Emu Buggers. These are an all-around wet fly that sinks just under the surface. If the fish are not taking on top this is a great fly to use to catch fish just under the surface.

Also included is an Adjust-A-Bubble spinning float. If you want to fly fish with a spinning rod instead of a fly rod, just tie the flies about 3 to 4 feet behind this spinning float to catch panfish on a fly. This clear bobber adds the weight needed to cast the fly with a spinning rod and works for fishing flies on the surface or below the surface.  The trick is to see how slow you can reel it in.

You won’t find these patterns in any fly shop or sport shop.  These patterns were modified or designed by Wisconsin fly tier, Bob Haase for catching panfish. Would make a great Christmas present because you can’t get this anywhere else.
