Description

Glassworks Studio opened in December 2002 in Morristown, NJ as the only public,  walk-in glass fusing studio in the country.

Now glass fusing is available at many venues in almost every state. Glassworks still remains ahead of the pack by offering the most options in glass projects and the most experienced staff to help you make your fused glass masterpiece.

Come and see for yourself…

Stacey Schlosser, owner and creator of Glassworks Studio takes pride in bringing the glass fusing experience to both the novice hobbyist and the experienced artist. Experienced in both large and small retail settings as well as teaching, Stacey brings a balance of skills to the Glassworks setting.

“I am as excited today as the day we first opened. It never ceases to amaze me how given the same materials and instructions each individual creates something unique. Glassworks Studio continues to try to upgrade and introduce new projects and programs while keeping our prices as low as possible to allow the most people a glass fusing experience”, says Stacey.

Special Instructions

How old do you have to be to make a project at Glassworks Studio?

Glassworks Studio welcomes all ages for an experience in glass fusing. Our youngest guests are invited to purchase our ‘Copy Kits” which are all pre-cut and instruction based kits. Our young but more daring guests can make a project from a box of pre-cut assorted glass pieces. All others will learn how to cut and design glass fusing pieces from scratch.

How long does it take to make a project?

Project times vary by age, ability, attention span and the size and difficulty of the design chosen. So really, there is no definitive answer. Young children generally take about an hour, more or less. Adults take about 2-3 hours. That being said some creative people take twice that time and some with short attention spans take half that time.

When will the project be ready?

All projects are ready for pick up in one week. Projects may be shipped at additional expense. All projects are kiln fired at least once and many twice. As each kiln firing takes an entire day we do ask for your patience. After the kiln firing(s), your piece is processed by our professional staff, wrapped, labeled and readied for pick up.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Glassworks Studio always welcomes walk-ins during OPEN studio hours. However, we highly recommend reservations for groups of five or more or for any school holiday as we cannot guarantee walk-in availability.
Larger groups of 10 or more do need to make a reservation in advance. Glassworks offers special packages for school groups, camps, scouts, social groups and more.

Is the glass sharp?

Yes, the glass can be sharp. Glassworks Studio staff will teach you how to properly handle the glass pieces and provide first aid if needed. Glassworks has welcomed over a 100,000 guests since its inception and no one has ever been seriously injured. Young children are less prone to injury by a large degree because they are using pre-cut pieces of glass.

Can you ship the finished work?

Yes, all pieces may be packaged safely for shipping. Our shipping fees begin at $15.

Can the glass be used for serving food?

Yes, all fused glass at Glassworks Studio is food bearing safe and can be washed in the dishwasher or by hand.

How can I display my glasswork?

Glassworks will either epoxy on or fuse in glass hooks as per your request. Rubber feet may be added to use the glass on a flat surface or any piece can be displayed in a table or wall stand. Glassworks sells a limited assortment of stands.

Do I have to have artistic abilities or glass working experience?

No experience is necessary and no skill is needed. Glassworks Studio staff will give you all the instructions you need to get started and be available for additional questions as you are working. Glass fusing is as simple as taking beautiful glass pieces and laying them out to be pleasing to your eye. At Glassworks Studio everyone is a glass artist.
