Karen Allen Fiber Arts clothing store opened it’s doors in a tiny retail space at 35 Railroad St. in Great Barrington, MA in May of 2005.

Karen had started her cashmere knitwear line in 2003 and had been placing items in various shops and galleries in MA and NYC, but decided to open her own shop and combine her knitwear line together with local designers and designers from around the world who were creating small, unique , textile oriented clothing and accessory lines that she admired.

In 2007, the store moved to a larger space at 8 Railroad St where it still remains: a celebration of beautiful and unique clothing collections from France, England Japan, Spain, India, Argentina, Australia, Italy, and many designers from all over the United States. Karen’s own cashmere knitwear line, which is produced in her studio in Great Barrington is joined by local designers Saskia Larraz, Annie Martin, and Janet McKinstry.

Karen Allen specializes in handwoven and knitted garments in natural fibers; silk, cotton, wool, linen and cashmere and work with extraordinary embroidery artists and dye artists and designers who experiment with fashion, fiber and form.

Karen Allen carries dresses for every day and for evening, coats, jackets, blouses, tunics, leggings, jeans, trousers, hats, gloves, socks, tights, leather and cloth handbags, evening bags, wallets, wool, cotton and cashmere sweaters and shawls, and scarves in silk, cashmere, wool, cotton and synthetic fibers for those sensitive to wool. We have hair accessories, and several beautiful jewelry lines: necklaces, bracelets and earrings. We also have shoe and boot lines when we find ones we love, and wonderful beaded and tooled leather belts. Karen Allen’s line of cashmere knitwear is unique to her store and no longer is available at other shops.
