The elegant Fountain Spa is one of northern Jersey’s most well-known and established day spas. The Fountain has been providing a “resort spa experience close to home” for clients throughout northern New Jersey and Rockland County, New York, since it opened its first location in 1993 in Ramsey, N.J. In 2005, a second location was added at The Shops at Riverside, the exclusive shopping center on Route 4 West in Hackensack. Today, both locations offer a variety of full and half-day spa experiences that include facial and body treatments for men, women, teens and couples that help rejuvenate, relax and revitalize, plus a full menu of salon services.

The Fountain Spa is the brainchild of owner Rita Knutsen, whose business and personal ties to Bergen County span over 50 years. Mrs. Knutsen conceived of The Fountain Spa after enjoying visits out west to the internationally-recognized Canyon Ranch. Mrs. Knutsen saw the need for the kind of unique escape from the every day provided by Canyon Ranch right in her own back yard, and brought the concept of an authentic day spa to our area. Her vision and energy have helped The Fountain become the benchmark for what a true spa experience is all about.

As a testament to The Fountain’s popularity, visibility and stability in the marketplace, it was voted “Best Spa in Bergen County” by the prestigious 201 Magazine three years in a row. In September 2008, The Fountain once again broke new ground introducing its well-priced monthly memberships, which include special offers and free monthly facials and massages. The response has been extremely positive.

The Fountain’s restful treatment rooms and serene Tranquility Room, as well as its highly trained professional staff, have set the standard for a true day spa experience for its clients. As a special treat, the treatment rooms, Tranquility Room and Conference Room are available for unique group events, and catering for special functions is available through its full-service kitchen.
