Description

Kids & Teen Yoga - 3 Class Pass

While some kids' yoga classes can be more entertainment than yoga, at Down Under Yoga they believe that children are capable of receiving the benefits of yoga in a very profound way. Their classes offer a balanced mixture of focus and fun, sprouting from both the Iyengar and Vinyasa traditions. Kids can expect lots of laughter and lots of deep breaths.  See more information on the classes they offer below:

Ages 3-6 Kids Newton Series Songs, movement activities and games help to bring the yoga asana practice to their youngest yogis, while stories and themes begin to introduce the seeds of yoga philosophy. Classes are dynamic and playful, with plenty of time for centering and relaxation at the end.

Ages 7-10 Kids Newton Series In these classes children will be challenged with asana practice and games but will also learn how to balance difficulties by cultivating concentration and calm. These young yogis will explore yoga philosophy through lively discussions to begin to take the practice of yoga off the mat and into their daily lives. Breath work and time for relaxation teach these young yogis how to self-soothe and handle challenges in their daily lives.

Ages 11-14 Kids Newton Series These well-balanced classes blend both challenging and restorative yoga postures, breath work, philosophy discussions and deep relaxation into each practice. Students build on their asana practice and begin to learn more challenging postures including an introduction to arm balance and inversions. Students will leave each class feeling nourished by time for rest and relaxation as they develop a tool kit of self-care techniques to self-soothe and calm at this critical and challenging age.

High School Kids Newton Series High School students build on their asana practice with an introduction to vinyasa flow (linking breath to movement) as well as arm balances and inversions. Pranayama (breath work), restorative poses and relaxation offer students a chance to recharge and fill their well; deepening their ability to self-soothe and regulate stress in challenging times. Students will leave each class feeling nourished by ample time for rest as well as thoughtful readings and discussions of yoga philosophy that allows teens to fold the teachings of yoga into their daily lives.
