A modest standout in the sushi-heavy Slope, Mura combines refined presentation and stellar execution on standards and originals. The minimally adorned, stroller-friendly space touts bare wood walls and a white birch partition framed by sailor’s rope. The generous outdoor patio ups the comfort quotient as does hyperattentive service with warm towel plates prefacing each meal. Mura’s menu runs the Westernized gamut: Tuna sashimi and greens topped with carrot-ginger dressing make a wonderfully light opening salad, and a pyramid built from of six prongs of shrimp tempura crown the appetizer lineup. For sushi, the Volcano Roll features mild softshell crab hit with a spicy tuna toupee. Italian fusions surprise: The house roll deliciously fuses smoky mozzarella with sweet teriyaki. Mura’s prices swing lower than surrounding fish houses, with specialty rolls peaking at $13.50 and reasonable bento box and combo options.
