Description

Spruce Street parent and professional Whitney Museum Educator and Ph.D. Art Historian will take you and up to 7 guests on a private tour of any exhibition of your choice at the long-awaited brand new Renzo Piano designed building directly at the base of the High Line Park  in the Meatpacking district. Schedule directly with the guide for any weekday through May of 2018.  All admission included.

Since its inception in 1931, the Whitney has championed American art and artists by assembling a rich permanent collection and featuring a vibrant schedule of special exhibitions. Exhibitions range from historical surveys and in-depth retrospectives of major twentieth-century and contemporary artists to group shows introducing young or relatively unknown artists to a larger public. The Biennial, an invitational show of work produced in the preceding two years, was introduced by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney in 1932. Known for challenging and sometimes controversial contemporary art, it is the only continuous series of exhibitions in the country to survey recent developments in American art. This spring will be the first Biennial in the new building. The Whitney also presents acclaimed exhibitions of film and video, architecture, photography, and new media. See the website for more specifics on current and future exhibitions: http://whitney.org/Exhibitions

Restrictions: Weekdays only, during museum hours 10:30–6pm
