Description
We worked with a theme of Peace for our Gala projects this year.
Knowing that the kids had learned about Picasso in art, we used the famous Peace Dove that he was asked to design for the first International Peace Conference in Paris in 1949.
Each child decorated one of the background segments, and all were offered the chance to draw the dove.
Having had some previous classroom discussion about what Peace means to them, the children worked happily and quietly on this project; many incorporating the peace symbol, hearts, and flowers; and they were co-operative and helpful with each other as well.
This finished project is a lovely representation of their class this year, and the bright colors would make a beautiful decoration in a children's bedroom or play area.
The children used washable markers on art paper, which was then stuck down on a cardboard backing, fixed with a sealing spray to prevent color bleeding, before being covered in 2 layers of modge podge to keep the pieces from lifting. Framed in white wood with white mat, the whole piece measures 25" x 30".
