Hot Topics: A Parent's Guide to Demystifying Puberty

Item Number: 906
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Puberty is an exciting time involving profound physical, social, and behavioral changes. As parents, we are suddenly scrambling to answer questions and provide information about a wide range of emotionally charged, "hot" topics - including romantic relationships, friendships, sex, alcohol, drugs, and mental health (to name a few). Figuring out what to say and how and when to say it can be challenging. Come join us for an evening of food, drinks, and a discussion about the amazing, normal, adaptive changes in brain development that occur with the onset of puberty. Learn about how these changes modify behavior during this time and discuss strategies to support your children during this exciting transition.
This session is co-hosted by Ahna Suleiman, a parent of a 4th grader and an adolescent developmental scientist with UC Berkeley's Center on the Developing Adolescent and Narda Skov, MPH, Redwood Day's own Health Educator and Middle School Counselor.
Held at Ahna Suhleiman's home.
Date and Time: Friday, May 5, 2017, 7-9:00pm. Limited to 24 adults.
