This photo is part of a series taken between 1996 and 2000 documenting cinderblocks found in various locations. This particular photo was taken in the town of Goreme in Cappadocia, Turkey. The accompanying limited edition catalog includes 25 images from the series.

Alan Wiener earned a BFA from Washington University and an MFA from Tyler School of Art and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He has had solo exhibitions at Feature, NYC and g-module, Paris and group exhibitions at 11R Gallery, NYC, Tibor de Nagy Gallery, NYC, White Columns, NYC and Shoshana Wayne Gallery, Santa Monica, CA. He is the recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship in 2001, and is currently a resident at the Sharpe Walentas Studio Program in Dumbo, NYC.
