Acclaimed author and illustrator Alison Bechdel's work explores themes of gender bias, homosexuality and family relationships. She is best known as the creator of the long-running comic strip Dykes to Watch Out for, and the 2006 graphic memoir Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, which garnered critical and commercial success and has since beenadapted as a Tony Award-winning musical. Bechdel is a 2014 recipient of the MacArthur Genius Award. Her most recent book is the graphic memoir, Are You My Mother?



Information about the Maltz Performing Arts Center: The first Phase of The Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at The Temple ̶ Tifereth Israel is complete. The renovation and repurpose of this historic space will be the new home of the talented and promising performing arts students and faculty of Case Western Reserve University. In addition to Case Western Reserve’s performing arts programs, the Maltz Performing Arts center will also host lectures, including Think Forum and performances from other cultural organizations.
