Description
Vintage Art Deco brass and white onyx mantel clock manufactured by Sessions, a well-known clock-maker in Connecticut. This is a working clock, not just for show!
In 1902, William E. Sessions of Bristol, Connecticut bought fledgling clockmaker E.N. Welch Company and created in 1903 the Sessions Clock Company. All clock parts—movements, dials, artwork and castings, and cases—were produced in Connecticut.
By 1930 Sessions realized that electricity was the wave of the future and began producing electric clocks. During World War II, the Sessions plant devoted itself to the manufacture of war materials. After the war, Sessions began making electric alarm clocks and kitchen clocks. In 1958 Sessions was sold to Consolidated Electronics Industries Corporation and by 1969, the Sessions Company was no longer making clocks.
