Beautifully handcrafted by the donor's brother, this is a reproduction of a Shaker dry measure dipper.  Measures about 7" in diameter, 4 1/2" high, and 14" to the tip of the handle.  

Dippers were used to measure dry products. Making dippers was a Shaker craft similar to oval box-making. Both processes involved a meticulous soaking or steaming of strips of wood until it was flexible enough to bend around a mold.
