Description

Essex Community Players is proud to announce its upcoming production for Spring 2017: George Bernard Shaw’s classic comedy Pygmalion

Phonetics Professor Henry Higgins makes a bet that with extensive tutelage in proper speech, he can transform the bedraggled Cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, into someone who could pass for a duchess at an ambassador’s garden party. Based on classical myth, Shaw’s Pygmalion plays on the complexity of human relationships while sharply lampooning the rigid British class system of the day and providing commentary on women’s independence. Pygmalion is directed by Nan Murat and produced by Becky Millard and Frank Weston, with a talented cast drawn from Essex and surrounding communities.

It opens Thursday, May 4, 2017, and runs through Sunday the 14thShow times are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM, and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 PM.

Performances will be presented in Memorial Hall at 5 Tower Road in Essex
