These handcolored postcards have been in my family for generations and I offer them to Constituting America auction bidders with pleasure!  Great condition and charming!

"Ash Lawn,"home of James Monroe, revolutionary hero, signer of the Louisiana Purchase, Author of the Monroe Doctrine and fifth President of the United States.  Planned for him by his friend and neighbor Thomas Jefferson and built in 1798 within three miles of "Monticello,"  in Charlottesville, Virginia.


The three post cards were printed by The Albertype Co., Brooklyn, N.Y.
