Dr Iain Douglas-Hamilton is to elephants what Jane Goodall is to chimps. His charity Save the Elephants is one of the most respected NGOs in the field today, and he continues his research on behaviour and long distance movement, as well as counting elephant populations, to put the best scientific data on the table for long-term management in a rapidly changing world.
