"Tamy's Smile" by Artist Thyra Rutter, Founder Arte for Elephants

Item Number: 100
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
One of a kind, original, signed colored pencil on paper "Tamy's Smile".
Artist Statement: Tamy's Smile is the most personal, and complicated piece I have done to date. Completed over a course of weeks, largely at public events, Tamy's Smile already has become an ambassador of sorts for the tragic story of the Mendoza Zoo elephants. Hundreds of people, from all backgrounds and ages, have watched this drawing being "born". They've listened and cried and cared deeply about the fate of these captive elephants.
Tamy's face absolutely struck me to the core, his dismal surrounding, his sunken cheeks, but the sweet, hopefulness of his smile, the fact that he can smile at all is a tribute to the very soul of this extraordinary elephant and illustrates why, exactly, every elephant matters.
Of Special Note: This is an original work, not a print, copy or reproduction. It is 9 x 12 inches, will be shipped flat and matted with a Matt board.
