Description

Four passes, each valid for one-time admission to the Mary Baker Eddy Library, located at:

200 Massachusetts Avenue
Boston, MA  02115

The Mary Baker Eddy Library opened in 2002 as a place for people to explore the life, ideas, and achievements of Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910). Established as a cultural and historical institution, the Library and museum provides educational experiences, programs, and exhibits featuring the Mapparium®, the Hall of Ideas®, and the Quest Gallery.

As its primary resource, the Library’s collections include one of the largest collections by and about an American woman. Mary Baker Eddy is a woman deserving of a place in history. She lived during a time when women had few options outside of marriage and virtually no voice to speak out in public. Eddy fought through those restrictions and helped all women make important strides forward in America. This Library is dedicated to her work, her life, and her remarkable achievements.

The world-famous, three-story, stained-glass globe known as The Mapparium is one of the key attractions at the Library. The Mapparium’s three-dimensional perspective of the world of 1935 is enhanced by A World of Ideas, an original presentation that features a rich orchestration of words, music, and LED lights to illustrate how ideas have traversed time and geography and changed the world.

The Library is also showing a complementary exhibit, “The Mapparium: An Inside View,” featuring letters, documents, and artifacts never before made public. These showcase the construction, history, and significance of this magnificent architectural and artistic achievement.
