During the past 14 years, Jo Levy has worked within numerous facets of the beauty industry. She spent the initial years of her career working with artistry focused beauty brands such as Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown and Armani Beauty. She credits her experience working with these brands for paving the way to her makeup style, which is uncontrived, pretty and modern.

In 2008, Jo successfully completed the Fashion & Beauty program at The Makeup Designory in Los Angeles with special focus in makeup for HD television, print, editorial as well as hairstyling. Upon returning to her home base of Chicago, Jo was represented by Sonia Roselli, as part of her leading, bridal and commercial artistry team. Simultaneously, Jo joined BECCA Cosmetics and also served as the brand’s national artist, educator and spokesperson for nearly five years.

During her time at BECCA, Jo was part of the artistry team behind rising-star designers Karolina Zmarlak and Venexiana Ltd. during NY Fashion Week 2011 and 2012. Jo also appeared as an on-air guest host for EVINE Live (formerly SHOPHQ) on behalf of BECCA in addition to hosting her own seminar on bridal beauty at the Makeup Show in Los Angeles in 2011.

In 2013, Jo set out to become an entrepreneur, co-founding Cult & Commerce, a start-up cosmetics distribution agency exclusively representing niche and prestige, global beauty brands. While at Cult & Commerce, Jo served as the Director of Artistry and Education for several, emerging beauty brands including: Rouge Bunny Rouge, James Read Tan and Verso Skincare. She traveled extensively, educating prominent retail partners such as Barney’s, Violet Grey, Saks Fifth Avenue, Blue Mercury, Net-a-porter and SpaceNK. Additionally, Jo directed education and events across 5 beauty brands and managed over 80 independent beauty boutiques across the country.

In late 2015, Jo culminated over a decade of industry experience to venture out independently. Jo now specializes in bridal, event andcommercial makeup services, video tutorials, product reviews in addition to artistry, education and sales consulting for indie beauty brands. Jo is committed to using and reviewing beauty products that exclusively fall under the clean/green/natural and organic category.

Jo has been a beauty contributor and featured artist for over twenty publications including: The Zoe Report, The Huffington Post, Glamour, Ok! Weekly and New Beauty Magazine. She has also appeared as a beauty expert on the Dr. Oz Show and Extra T.V.

I’ve learned that to grow as an artist and individual, you must get out of your comfort zone, share your knowledge, be supportive of your peers and most importantly…express gratitude and remain humble along the way.
