Everything around us is made up of and radiates energy.  This includes our bodies, which have subtle channels of energy running through them.  These streams are influenced by our thoughts, emotions and our environment, and as women we face special energetic demands during our monthly cycles, while conceiving, bearing, feeding and caring for our children, and during menopause.  When our energetic flow is obstructed, we feel out of balance and can experience physical pain, muscle tension, stress, irritability and anxiety.  Energy balancing is a hands-on body therapy that aims to gently restore your energetic life force to its optimal level through the healing power of touch and laying of hands on the body. With your energy centers balanced and free-flowing, you will feel fluidity in the body and find greater emotional equilibrium.

What to Expect: You will lie on the massage table in my home-studio sanctuary, positioned for comfort, while I use touch of varying pressure to release tension from your muscles, simultaneously clearing and aligning your chakras and energetic field.  I incorporate essential oil aromatherapy, sound and crystals to further aid in releasing any emotional root underlying your physical symptoms.  You will feel deeply soothed throughout the treatment and leave feeling greater levity, clarity and physical wellbeing.

How it Works: Similar to massage, this treatment activates the body's natural self-healing ability and supports hormonal balance, reducing cortisol and increasing oxytocin and other feel-good hormones.  It offers complementary benefits to sister mind-body practices, including meditation and yoga.  It is gentle, safe and effective in supporting your overall health and wellbeing, enhancing your body's natural immunity and detoxification process, and promoting healthy sleep.  With evidence-based research confirming the positive healing results known to other cultures for centuries, energy work is recognized today as a valuable integrative therapy and offered through established health care providers to complement and enhance traditional Western medicine (for example, at Northwestern Medicine's Osher Center). 

I am passionate about supporting women in realizing their full potential through the healing power of touch, with a special interest in helping new and expecting moms to experience their maternity season to its fullest. As an energy therapist, a certified infant massage instructor, DONA-trained doula and mom of two, I became aware of a practically universal, unmet need among new moms for adequate self-care in the demanding weeks preceding and following childbirth- when we most need a very special kind of relief and nourishment that may not be widely accessible in today's culture.  I specifically designed my offerings to meet this need, marrying the gentle, healing properties of energy work with my specialized training and experience consulting with new moms.  It would be my sincere pleasure to support you throughout this awesome and tender life season.
