Description

Come enjoy a dog-friendly, off-grid cabin and its surrounding 93 acres just 45 minutes outside of Boulder. It’s a place with history, character, abundant wildflowers and wildlife, as well as easy access. It's located one mile up a private dirt road off Highway 7, about 15 minutes from Lyons. High-clearance 2-wheel drive vehicles can navigate the bumpy road, so a rental car from Denver International Airport, about 90 minutes away, would work just fine.

The cabin is rustic but functional, with a gas stove, a wood cookstove, plenty of cookware, a full bathroom, and room for at least four people in two bedrooms as well as a screened-in porch. Bring a cooler for your food, plan on staying warm via firewood, and barbequeing your favorite meals in the outdoor cook-out area where you can use gas, wood or both.

Children of all ages will love climbing on the rocks and exploring the meadow. Some may also enjoy climbing the nearby “mountain” or the short hike to secluded Egg Lake. The US Forest Service trail to the dry St. Vrain River is just down the road to add to many informal hikes in and around the property. The entry to Rocky Mountain National Park is about 45 minutes from the cabin along the beautiful Peak-to-Peak Highway. If you’d like to explore the area, all the maps you could ever want are at your fingertips.

Property owners will greet, check you in, and then leave you in peace while staying at a tiny cabin at the other end of the meadow where they will be available to help out as need be or to show you around. Fire safety is critical. Owners are happy to work with you on scheduling the perfect weekend get-away between mid-May and mid-October.
