2 Tickets to Aratani World Series: Cambalache "Son Jarocho" Made in East L.A

    Item Number: 323
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
The musicians in
Cambalache are from LA’s Eastside & Veracruz, where the sounds of everyday life have sonic histories in Black and Brown music making. Cambalache which means “exchange” is Chicano-Son Jarocho music – a mix of indigenous baroque Spanish instruments, Afro Caribbean beats, Mexican and Arabic sounds that draws the audience in to participate in the raucous spirit of thefandango. It’s accompanied by fandango dancing on the tarima, a small wooden resonant platform devised by slaves to tap out infectious rhythms that provide the music’s percussion and contained a subversively explosive edge. Presented by the Aratani World Series at the beautiful Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo - Downtown, Los Angeles
