BIOGRAPHY
Leonardo Nobili was born in Montelabbate (province of Pesaro-Urbino) and works between Pesaro and New York. Since the beginning of the ‘70s he has dedicated himself exclusively to his art, initially expressing himself through the medium of oil painting. In the ‘80s he attended courses in etching, organized by the Raffaello Academy of Urbino, directed by Professor Carlo Ceci. As an experimental artist, he visually feeds on the places of his land, interweaving the study of nature with the study of “underground” landscapes and decadent metropolitan atmospheres of industrial finds; His curiosity and his will to create have induced him to experiment with several artistic languages: from painting to sculpture, from installation to photography and art videos. He has realized big sculptures both in Italy and abroad. He has worked in Paris, Munich and especially in the USA, together with some photographers and sculptors at the Yonkers University in New York. He has been invited to lecture on his works and produce shows by different art academies and museums, such as Brera Academy of Art in Milan and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Istituto d’Arte and Mart Museum (Rovereto), Museo Magi 900 (Pieve di Cento-Bo), Museo Michetti (MuMi) in Francavilla al Mare, Centro Arti Visive, Pescheria in Pesaro and the fortress of Umbertide (Perugia). In March 2009 Montelabbate’s municipal administration has dedicated to his fellow citizen artist a permanent art centre, called “Spazio-Nobili”Museum, made up of a series of works that Nobili has donated to his town. Nobili asserts: “The development of a theme or of a formal solution is for me always a new way of interacting with the energy of reality and of the objects that surround me”.
