About the artist: Born in Lima, Peru in 1966, Coqle Aragrev was drawn to art and painting at an early age. Instead of homework, Ms. Aragrev offered her teachers "lots of drawings of ducks and cats instead of 2s and 8s." Ms. Aragrev studied economics under pressure from her family, although soon she decided to make a living as an artist. Self described as a "Peruvian Folk Painter", Cogle Aragrev's paintings explore the relation between color and shape with exquisite freedom.

Coqle Aragrev's recent exhibits include: Florence Biennale, Fortezza da Basso, Florence, Italy; The Bombay Saphire Artisan Series, Miami, Florida; and The Exposure Awards, Louvre Museum, Paris, France, all in 2015. Ms. Aragrev will present her work at the Latin American Gallery, Las Vegas, Nevada, during the 2016-17 academic year.
