Description

It is never too early to start thinking about the next chapter – college. The college admissions journey requires careful planning, personalized strategies, and knowledge of the competitive admissions environment.  Sarah offers two hours of consulting services for freshman, sophomores, juniors or seniors. You may use these two hours however you wish – assistance in planning a high school curriculum to make a compelling case for acceptance, assistance in planning a college tour that covers a variety of schools that fits your student’s needs, advice on building the perfect college list, discussing financial aid and scholarship opportunities, essay brainstorming, essay editing or any combination of these services.

Sarah is the founder of On the Quad College Consulting and a college counselor at a small private school in Chicago.  Before leaving CPS to dedicate more time to college consulting, Sarah was an AP Psychology teacher at Lane Tech College Prep. Sarah was also the coordinator of multiday college tours at Lane Tech.  Over the last ten years, she has visited numerous colleges, all over the country, including major cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles and has listened carefully to admissions counselors as they talk about the intricacies of the application and acceptance process.  She works with students throughout the entire college search and application process. Having attended countless admissions meetings, Sarah knows what particular schools are looking for in an applicant, the intricacies of each school’s financial aid options and the state of college admissions in general.  Sarah has toured all of the campuses – rain or shine, and even snow on occasion.  She has listened to student guides talk about what brought them to the school.  She has eaten with enrolled students in the dining halls, read the school newspapers, and seen the dorms.  After every campus visit, she has walked away with new knowledge – whether it be that private schools are often more affordable than public institutions, the importance of the content of the college essay, the role of extracurricular activities, or the significance of what is now being called “demonstrated interest”.

When Sarah decided to be an Independent Educational Consultant, she took additional steps to learn all she could about the profession and the college application and selection process.  Sarah is a month away from completing the University of California-Irvine’s Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program.  Sarah has completed the highly regarded Independent Educational Consulting Association’s Summer Training Institute at Claremont McKenna College.  She is now an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultant Association, Higher Education Consultants Association and NACAC.
