Description

A pair of tickets to a concert by the Sarasa Chamber Music Ensemble which has received critical acclaim for its "informed and impassioned music-making" and is hailed for its "great clarity" and "irresistible energy."

The final program of Sarasa's 2016-17 season will conclude with the warmth of a great big Russian bear hug.  Led by the ever elegant Haldan Martinson, Principal Second Violin of the BSO, Sarasa will delve into opulent, sonorous palettes of colour and virtuosic string writing in two much beloved works by compatriots and contemporaries Anton Arensky and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The program will include:

Arensky String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 35 for violin, viola and two cellos
Tchaikovsky String Sextet in D minor 'Souvenir de Florence', Op. 70

Haldan Martinson & Christina Day Martinson, violins; Jenny Stirling & Marka Gustavsson violas; Timothy Merton & Jennifer Morsches, cellos

In 2007, Sarasa won the 'outstanding achievement award' from Early Music America in recognition of its invaluable work with incarcerated teens in the Greater Boston area.

Tickets may be used May 21 (Cambridge) or May 22 (Concord) or any time next year.
