Sin City Opera presents Tchaikovsky's tragic drama, 'Eugene Onegin'. Based on the epic poetry of Alexander Pushkin, the story follows the life of Onegin; a world­weary, selfish, vain and indifferent hero who becomes a victim of his own pride and selfishness. Director Matthew Kirchner has reimagined this timeless story asset in F. Scott Fitzgerald's, 'Great Gatsby' era of 1925. Calvin Coolidge is President, it is four years before the beginning of the Great Depression and morale in America is at an all­ ÂÂ?time high. It's a time of jazz music, flapper culture and bootleggers. Onegin's journey is a conflict between art and life; a story of rejection, unrequited love, and the inhumanity of social convention.
